Parks

The City of Foley Parks Department, supervised by Mark McKenzie, maintains the City Parks listed below. The Parks Department also maintains Foley's soccer, baseball, and football fields, as well as the Hike / Bike Trail and the Nature Trail. Annual Community Events such as Arbor Day, Christmas in the Park, Heritage Harbor Day, and Art in the Park, just to name a few, would not be possible without the dedicated service of the Parks Department.
 

Heritage Park is located on East Laurel Avenue, just off of Highway 59. The Foley Depot Museum is situated in the Park, Which is also the site of annual events such as Heritage Harbor Days and Let it Snow.

   
John B. Foley Park along Highway 59 in Downtown Foley is the sight of Arbor Day, Christmas in the Park, Art in the Park, and civic activities such as the Chili Cook Off. The fountain and plentiful trees and flowers in the park bring serenity to the Downtown area.
   
Melvin Roberts Park a.k.a Cedar Street Park which is located along Cedar Street includes amenities such as baseball fields, tennis courts, basketball courts, a covered pavilion, playground equipment and a Nature Trail with a gazebo.
   
Max Griffin Park is the home of the first is the home of the first swimming pool in Foley, which was built in the 1950s, having had numerous maintenance upgrades through the years. The Griffin Pool is open in the summer months when public school is out Monday - Saturday from 10:30am until 6:00pm and from 1:30pm until 5:00pm on Sundays. Three sessions of 2 week swimming lessons are available. A swim team will also meet during the summer months from Monday - Saturday.
   
Foley Kids Park was built in March 2001 by volunteers, and funded by donations from area residents and citizens. City services helped to establish this park, which is a must for parents with young children. Many individuals and groups enjoy the park for various activities such as parties and field trips.
   
Aaronville Park is located along South Cedar Street, In the community of Aaronville, and it too contains a swimming pool. The Aaronville Pool is open during the summer months Monday - Saturday from noon until 8:00 pm and Sunday from 1:30 pm until 5:00 pm. The Park also includes softball fields, baseball fields, and basketball courts.
   
Beulah Heights Park has numerous amenities such as   baseball and softball fields, basketball and tennis courts, as well as playground equipment. The park is located on the eastside of Foley, along South Michigan Avenue.
   
Evans Park is the newest addition to Foley's open spaces. The Park is located South of Foley High School on the north side of Park Avenue.
   
Foley Soccer Park is located on the west side of Foley along Highway 98. This new park includes soccer fields and a concession building, which is enjoyed by both city league and high school sports teams.
   
Foley Hike - Bike Trail is Phase I of the Hike /Bike Trail, which winds along the old Railroad right of way just east of Highway 59. The landscaped trail passes by sites such as the Depot Museum / Heritage Park and John B. Foley Park. There are two gazebos and various benches scattered throughout.
 
LANDSCAPE DEPARTMENT
The City of Foley Landscape Department is part of the Parks Department and supervised by Martin Teem. These dedicated employees spend their days maintaining the City Parks and landscape of City Buildings throughout Foley. This department also plants, fertilizes, and cares for trees and seedlings in the City, including the Chinese Pastiche along Highway 59 and the Drake Elms on the four corners of Laurel and Alston, as well as shape and trim trees for annual events. The Landscape Department is a valuable asset to the Revitalization and Beautification Board, as they assist the Board with various landscape and seasonal decorating projects.

Jubilee Landscape was hired by the City of Foley to assist in planting and maintaining bedding plants along Highway 59 and 98, Alston Street and Highway 98, as well as other areas around the City.
